Our son Desmond (Desi) was born in June of 2004 with Polands Syndrome. He is affected on his left side. His left hand is smaller than the right and he was born with webbing, and with two fingers totally fused together. His left arm is slightly shorter than the other and additionally he has no pectoral muscles on the left side of his chest. Desi is a huge inspiration to me and the rest of our family. There is NOTHING this child will not try! He is almost two years old now and shows every bit of it! Desi has three older brothers, ages 8, 14 and 16 and he has no trouble at all keeping up! We live in California not far from San Francisco. |
| Desi just had his 2nd surgery to separate his fingers. That should be his last surgery until he is grown and decides whether or not he wants to have cosmetic surgery on his chest. What a little trooper! Thank God both procedures went well and he recovered quickly. As soon as I have time I'm going to put together a little "web book" of his surgery story so other children that will be undergoing an operation can take a look and hopefully it will offer them some comfort.
